When I said I wanted to move to New York, I said it with the hope of unveiling something incredible. It is my dream to be able to express myself, create, and motivate others to see the beauty in life. No matter where I am beauty is there. Perception is the key, and changing it is the secret.

So here I am, in the city I’ve dreamed of living in.  It’s been over a month since I’ve moved; two apartments, a few weeks sleeping on an air mattress, and a big adventure ahead of me.  Since I was consumed by uprooting the life I’ve always known, I didn’t have a lot of opportunity to post anything.

I can tell you the process to get to this point is not what you read in stories or watch on television.  The glamour is what you make of it.  I was lucky enough to be in a loving relationship with a person who helped achieve this wild dream.  Together we drove ourselves until no end, looking for apartments between all hours worked, and both coming down with pneumonia the first week in our new city, there was no rest, no down time.  Good news is it all paid off and I am pinching myself to see what I have accomplished. I’m hopeful and excited to see where this next chapter will bring me.  I miss my family and my beloved animals every day, but I must keep things moving in order to progress.

An interesting note: I bought this jacket after my birthday in July, the brand is Blank NYC. At that point in time I was wishing for a sign, something to help push me to make this move.  It was too hot for a leather jacket but I scooped it up anyway. I couldn’t wait to post it on here and find the right moment to wear it. How apropos, it was perfect for the mild weather we were having.

It’s already mid-August and I want to drink every last drop of summer I possibly can.  This has been the hottest and most humid summer upstate New York has seen in a while.  And one thing I definitely struggle with is living in the moment, I feel like I’ve always got some kind of obligation holding me back from enjoying something wonderful.  It’s my nature to want to take a fraction of time and pause it long enough to gather my thoughts and take in the beauty around me.  The things I love most I need a lot of time for them such as, my family, my relationship, and my farm.  I wish it wasn’t as unacceptable to be open about it or to express that I require more time for that purpose. There’s this sense of competition amongst human beings such as: Who works harder? Who needs more rest? Oh you think you’ve got it bad? Take a look at my laundry list of responsibilities.  How do we actually break away from those behaviors and just be.

I love long drives and I love being at peace in nature, especially by a body of water. I walked along this stream and took in all its beauty.  I watched the sun light gleam onto the water, pour onto and through me.  Then I took a drive down a road I had never been before and saw this incredible view of mountains and fields.  Pasing a big cow farm, I stopped to take a picture of this particular cow because he looked so tranquil on top of his hill, and he looked directly at the camera.

Sunday Brunch

Sunday Brunch

When I lived in New York City, one of my favorite activities was having Sunday brunch with my friends. There’s nothing like having a good laugh with people you love over a couple mimosas. When I think of brunch I like to dress casual but play it up with some stylish flats and a fun cross body. It’s also ideal to layer with spring finally arriving in New York, because the morning can still be brisk but the sun comes out full swing by the afternoon just in time to shop.
